Cancer Rehabilitation Program
Physical therapists provide the following services
Range of Motion Restoration
Therapeutic exercises increase mobility, strength and endurance, helping restore function to areas impacted by surgery or radiation.
Occupational Therapy
Rehabilitation helps you accomplish your day-to-day functions such as tying shoes, combing hair and showering.
Lymphedema Therapy
Therapists help you prevent and control lymphedema – prolonged swelling resulting from a disturbed drainage pattern in the lymph system – with exercises, compression bandages and lymph drainage massage.
Fatigue Treatment
Exercise reduces the effects of fatigue caused by chemotherapy. Your physical therapist will develop appropriate treatments to fight fatigue and help with reconditioning.
Gait and Balance Therapy
To get you back on your feet, physical therapists provide you with balance skills and fall prevention tools.
Pain Management
Therapists work with you to reduce discomfort during and after cancer care.
If you, a family member or medical professional think you would benefit from cancer rehabilitation services, talk with your physician.
Your doctor can make a referral to our program. Services are provided every Wednesday in Building C on the Salem Hospital campus or daily at the Salem Hospital Regional Rehabilitation Center.
